Oregon Newspapers Index

Compiled by the University of Oregon, this site indexes the Portland Oregonian as well as The Oregon Daily Emerald, a University of Oregon campus newspaper, and The Eugene Register-Guard. The database does not contain full-text information. Many Oregon libraries have microfilm of the Oregonian for patrons to use.

Unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. Some obituaries are included but not shorter death notices. Excludes classified ads, photos and advertisements. This full text coverage from 9/1/1987 to the present is available only in the Beaverton City Library.

Oregonlive.com is a website that posts The Oregonian's content, and updates it throughout the day. For the most part, content written within the past 14 days by Oregonian staff is available free on OregonLive.com. Syndicated content from other news sources, however, is not available here.

Obituaries are online at Oregonlive.com for 6 months, while special reports and series, FOODDay recipes, and movie reviews are live for one year. The search engine on Oregonlive allows you to search all of the archived free and for-pay stories.
