The OverDrive Media Console app requires a device running Android 1.5 or newer.
Installing the OverDrive Media Console app
Create an Adobe ID
- Visit this website to create a free Adobe ID
- You may want to write down the email address and password you used, as it's very important that you remember it later when authorizing your device
Get the OverDrive Media Console app
Find and install the free OverDrive Media Console app in the Android Market
Authorize your device
You need to authorize the app with an Adobe ID and password to be able to read ebooks on it.
Tap on the grid button to display the menu options for the app. Tap on App Settings to authorize your device with your Adobe ID and password.
Search for & download books
Start by finding and selecting your local library. You will only need to do this step the first time you use the app. To get started, tap on the grid button, then tap on the Get Books button.
After you tap on Get Books, go through the process of selecting your library.
Tap on Add a Library to choose your local (physical) library.
The easiest way to add your library is to search by zip code or the name of your library, then tap Search.
Choose your local library from the list by tapping on it.
Tap on Oregon Digital Library Consortium to start browsing for books. The app will remember this setting next time you use it if you tap the gold star.
Browse using the categories on this page, or tap the search button to look for specific titles. See this page for information on finding books that are available to download now.
Once you find a book you want, click on Add 2Go Cart to begin the check-out process.
Tap on Proceed to Checkout.
Choose Washington County Cooperative Library Services from the list of libraries.
Enter your entire library card number, without any spaces. Mark the box labeled "Remember me on this device" so you don't have to re-enter your card number each time you check out a book.
Choose how long you want to have the book for. This page also tells you how many more books you can check out. Click on "Confirm check out" to check out your title.
Tap on the Download button to download the title to your device.
Using the books
The book is now in your library. Tap on the book to open it. This screen also shows you how long you have left before the book expires from your device.
When you first open the ebook, you'll see a screen telling you how to navigate your ebook.
