When transferring Kindle titles via USB, the book shows up in the Archive folder, not on the main screen

When transferring Kindle titles via USB, sometimes the book shows up in the Archive folder, not on the main screen of the Kindle. When you try to open the book from the Archive folder, the Kindle may say it requires a wifi connection to download the book. This is a problem if you don't have wifi - the book should just have transferred to the Kindle main screen via USB.

Amazon reports they are working on resolving this error, but have provided steps to solve the issue.

  1. Plug your Kindle into your computer with the USB cable.
  2. View the files on the Kindle. You should see the title in the Documents folder on your Kindle.
  3. Right-click on the title and delete the [1] from .azw3[1].

After this, the book should then show up on the main screen of your Kindle.
