Snow Damage Hits West Slope Community Library

Roof, siding and insulation damaged.

Washington County, Oregon: With the sledding fun drawing to a close in the surrounding Raleigh Hills neighborhood the West Slope Community Library (3678 SW 78th Avenue, Portland, OR 97225) is faced with the wet and slushy clean-up caused by melting snow leaking through the library roof.

According to Library Director, Veronica Eden, “the entire north wall of the library received extensive water damage during the thaw. Washington County workers are on site evaluating the damage and beginning the process of removing wet insulation, paneling and drying out the carpet.”

The north room of the library, affectionately known as the “magazine room”, will be closed until further notice to allow repairs to be made. The main room and children’s room of the library remain open to the public.

The library opened at noon today and may close early depending on local conditions. Please call 503-292 6416 or visit for updates on closing information. The library plans to be open regular hours on Tuesday.
