Washington County Libraries Offer Cool & Refreshing Escape From the Heat

Washington County, Oregon:  Are you looking for an escape from the soaring temperatures this week - check out one or more of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) fifteen member libraries. You will find a cool and refreshing place to browse for a new summer read or attend one of the dozens of programs offered.

From computer classes, to teen, adult or family focused movie showings to toddler storytimes . . . there is sure to be something to pique your interest. All programs are free and come with complimentary cool and comfortable air conditioning - your library is a perfect place to escape the heat, relax and unwind. Take your mind off the heat with spine-tingling tales, some cool jazz recordings, or a winter-themed movie.

Bethany Open Computer Lab - for Adults

Need help setting up an email account, finding information on the web, or formatting your resume? Drop by our open computer lab on Thursday mornings from 9:00 am until the library opens at 10:00 am. Patient and knowledgeable volunteers and staff will be available to assist with practicing computer skills, continuing class exercises, and answering questions about word processing, email, downloadable library materials, and the Internet. No registration is required, but there is limited space each session.

Library2Go: One-on-One Help for Adults

Drop in between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Thursday for individual assistance to learn how to download eBooks from the library's system, Library2Go. Librarians will be available to help you learn how to use Library2Go with your eReader, tablet, smartphone, or laptop/notebook computer. Bring your device, transfer cords, and your library card! Also, if you're thinking about purchasing an eReader, drop in to test-drive different models, including Sonys, Nooks, and Kindles. No registration required, but we recommend calling ahead to find out about availability.

Summer Reading Celebration for Youth, Teens & Adults

See Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (rated PG, 86 minutes) on the Library's big screen! Friday Family Flicks features family friendly movies on the third Friday of most months at the Main Library! Popcorn provided, courtesy of Regal Cinema's Movies on TV Highway. Recommended for ages 4+ and adult family members. Children must be supervised by adult family members. Seating is limited to 100 people - so come early to find your seat.

Own the Night - Teen Summer Reading Wrap-up

Designed for kids in grades six and up. It's after hours at the library! Join us to solve a murder mystery and glow in the dark during our night games. Find out if you won any of the great summer reading prizes in our drawing. Everyone who turned in a reading record is eligible to win. Don't forget to arrange a ride home from the library!
