Official WCCLS Photo Contest Rules
WCCLS Photo Contest:
The Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) first annual Photo Contest will include photos submitted between February 11, 2008 and April 30, 2008. No entries will be accepted after that date. The contest will focus on color photos taken in Washington County, Oregon. Particular emphasis will be put on landscapes and photos that convey the look and feel of the county and its evolution from a rural to urban environment. The WCCLS photo contest is open to unique color digital images photographed in Washington County, Oregon only. Photos may be used on the WCCLS.org website for up to one year.
What types of photographs are eligible?
- The contest is seeking striking, original, unaltered color digital images not previously published that were created solely by the entrant within Washington County, Oregon.
- Particular emphasis will be put on: landscapes; photos that convey the look and feel of the county and its evolution from a rural to urban environment.
- Images of people, pets, domestic animals or captive animals will not be accepted.
What are the awards?
Prizes will be awarded in each age category for First Place, Second Place and Honorable Mention. Prizes are sponsored by Oregon Photo & Digital.
Photos may be showcased on the www.wccls.org website for up to one year.
Age 19 + Category:
- First Prize: 16x24 canvas wrap of the winning photo. This prize is valued @ $125.
- Second Prize: 8x10 framed & matted print. This prize is valued at $51.
- Two (2) Honorable Mentions: $15 gift certificate(s) for Oregon Photo & Digital.
Age 10 – 18 Category:
- First Prize: 11x17 framed & matted print. This prize is valued at $75.
- Second Prize: $25 gift certificate for Oregon Photo & Digital.
- Two (2) Honorable Mentions: $15 gift certificate(s) for Oregon Photo & Digital.
Who can enter?
- Eligibility is limited to amateur photographers, 10 years or older.
- Officers, employees and representatives of WCCLS, the fourteen WCCLS member libraries and their immediate families, employees of any sponsor and their immediate families are ineligible to participate.
- WCCLS shall have the right to verify, in its sole judgment, entrant and winner eligibility.
- The Contest is void where prohibited.
Are there different entry and prize categories by age?
Yes. There are two entry and prize categories:
- Age 10-18;
- Age 19+
How many images can I submit?
- Up to two (2) images may be submitted by a single individual during the contest period.
- Individuals submitting more than the limit will be disqualified.
How must the images be submitted?
- Images must be submitted online in accordance with the Entry Form requirements.
- No mail-in entries will be accepted.
- Receipt of entries will be acknowledged.
- Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tiff, .tif format ONLY.
- Complete a separate online entry form for each photo submitted.
- Entries must be made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of the entry.
What rights will WCCLS retain in submitted photos?
Your entry to the contest constitutes your agreement to grant WCCLS a royalty-free perpetual non-exclusive license to allow your photographs to be displayed by WCCLS or by third parties with WCCLS’ permission, to be utilized on the WCCLS website, and to be used in WCCLS advertisements and other WCCLS promotional material. All entries must be free of claims and rights of third parties. WCCLS will not be responsible for damage to or theft of photographs.
What rights will entrants retain?
Entrants retain all other rights to future use of their photographs except as specified.
Can entrants sell their winning photograph?
Yes, but a purchaser must be advised that WCCLS retains the rights enumerated in “What rights will WCCLS retain in submitted photos?”
General Agreement:
Submission of an entry to the contest automatically constitutes the contestant's acceptance of all conditions set forth in the above rules. Entries not complying with the above rules will be disqualified.
Limitation of Liability:
Participants agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless all contest sponsors, Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) and their partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Contest or any Contest-related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or possession of any photograph submitted or any prize awarded hereunder. WCCLS assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Contest entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. WCCLS is not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants' or any other persons' computers related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest.

Sponsor not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by persons entered at the Web site or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Contest.
