Art of the Story: 14th Annual Storytelling Festival

April 21-May 5, 2018. Life, legends, history and folktales come alive through the magic of storytelling.Washington County Cooperative Library Services is pleased to host the Art of the Story Festival featuring 11 unique storytelling performances throughout Washington County. See the schedule of events.

This year the festival features three professional storytellers: local teller Habiba Addo (Portland, Oregon), regional teller Rick Huddle (Portland, OR), national teller Geraldine Buckley (Frederick, Maryland), and four Adult Story Slam contestants: Ellen Wolfson, John Wylder, Kristin Olson-Huddle, and Maggie Lott. A Student Story Slam Contest will be coordinated with the Arts & Communication Magnet Academy (ACMA).

All festival performances are designed for the enjoyment of Adults. Several shows, where noted, will also welcome children ages 6 or 12 and up. Admission is always free.

The Finale Showcase features performances by the Student and Adult Story Slam winners, Addo, Huddle and Buckley. A reception precedes the showcase performance offering complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
