The library was founded in 1938 and today is one of the busiest public libraries in the state. Beaverton has a makerspace called Design And Make, a Murray Scholls branch, and a bookmobile named Evie.
Each of the 16 WCCLS libraries are individually governed by a city or non-profit organization. Beaverton is a city library.
