WCCLS strives to maintain an accessible website. Web accessibility is broadly defined by making a website usable by anyone with a disability. In the process of making a website accessible, it helps make the site more useable by everyone.

WCCLS is required by federal rules to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA, in order to "make sure people with disabilities have access to state and local governments’ services, programs, and activities available on websites" (Fact Sheet: New Rule on the Accessibility of Web Content and Mobile Apps Provided by State and Local Governments).

WCCLS strives to achieve this standard of accessibility via a combination of steps, for example:

  • ensuring that content meets guidelines when it is first published
  • conducting an annual review of the site using automated and manual tools
  • fixing accessibility issues that are discovered.
