Located outside city boundaries with no municipal support, Cedar Mill residents organized the non-profit Cedar Mill Community Library Association in 1974. A Washington County bookmobile served the area for several months until a small volunteer-run library was opened in 1976 with help from WCCLS. The library grew over the years and now occupies 24,500 square feet with a collection of 250,000 items and active services and programs for all ages.
The county continues to provide most operating support but building and capital needs are provided through private fundraising, book sales and the Second Edition Resale Shop. To better serve our growing population, Cedar Mill opened its Bethany Branch in 2007 and plans to expand that facility.
One large (or divide into two smaller) meeting rooms are available in the library by reservation.
