About the Library

In 2002, the Friends of the North Plains Public Library converted a 590-square-foot janitor's closet in the Jessie Mays Community Hall into a library which operated there from 2003 to 2006.  In April 2006, Wayne Holm, CEO of Oregon-Canadian Forest Products of North Plains, built and donated to the Friends a 2,500-square-foot library adjacent to City Hall.  In July 2007, the library joined the Washington County Cooperative Library Services.

Library personnel, furnishings, operations, and all materials are managed by the City of North Plains.  The Library is open 50 hours per week.  Its many programs include a weekly storytime, an annual summer reading program, monthly art and quilt exhibits, monthly book club and writers’ group meetings, author lectures, and the First Friday Flick. The Library has 11 public computers with Internet access and the Microsoft Office 2010 suite of programs.  Free WiFi is available for those with laptops.  For more information, visit our website.
